B I RSA MUNDA I NTERNAT IONAL HOCKEY STAD I UM - ROURKELA, OD I SHA Building strength and enhancing aesthetics The Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha was being readied for the Hockey World Cup, 2023. Larsen & Toubro Limited was the designated construction partner for the 20,011 seat hockey stadium , named after Indian freedom fighter Birsa Munda, which has now been recognised as the largest fully seated hockey arena in the world by the Guinness World Records. The stadium is built over 50 acres of land inside the Biju Patnaik University of Technology campus in the Sundergarh district of Odisha. The stadium hosted India’s first match of the World Cup 2023 against Spain, in January 2023, immediately after its inception. Nuvoco was approached to offer a solution that would strengthen the structure and enhance the aesthetics. Artiste Coarse part of Nuvoco’s Artiste (decorative concrete) range of products was the perfect fit and the most preferred choice of customers for offering strength and durability to the structure and enhancing the aesthetics with its striking patterns, realistic textures, and vibrant colours. Nuvoco supplied Artiste Coarse in Platinum Gray and Pink shades to cover a 2,30,000 Sq. Ft. area within the stadium. As part of the project management strategy, Nuvoco employed five applicator teams consisting of six people each to ensure the timely completion of the project while preventing it from being damaged by other work happening on the site at the same time.
